Introduction to the Surface Profilometer :
A surface profilometer is an optical metrology instrument used for measuring the surface topography of workpieces, primarily utilizing white light interference technology for non-contact measurement.
Working Principle:
It generates interference fringes by reflecting light off different surfaces, thereby constructing a 3D image of the surface. System software is then used to process and analyze this image, obtaining 2D and 3D parameters that reflect the surface quality.

Application Scope:
This instrument is widely used in fields such as semiconductors, optical components, and ultra-precision machining, enabling micro-nanometer level surface roughness measurements. According to its working principle, surface profilometers can be classified into contact-type and optical 3D surface profilometers. The former is mainly used for measuring the dimensions of workpieces, while the latter is suitable for more detailed surface topography analysis.
